China, Taiwan and America - Collision Imminent!

Economist Martin Armstrong recently discussed global dependence on the supply of the world's best computer chips all coming from TSMC in Taiwan and commented: "Taiwan’s growing relationship with America is fanning the flames of war. The nation’s entire military strategy relies on superpowers like America shielding it from China. Our adversaries see that we are wearing ourselves thin and striking will be far easier than before." Until TMSC's new chip factories in Arizona are brought completely up to par with the plants in Taiwan - the chips modern society needs are at risk.

Others focus on the importance of Trump's re-election and his appointed officials: Elon Musk expects Taiwan to become another “special administrative zone” of China like Hong Kong - after the inevitable Chinese invasion. And Musk sees China through far rosier glasses than Trump's other appointees. Trump's choice for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, says that China wants to take over Taiwan to gain control of its semiconductor industry: "They have a full-spectrum long-term view of not just regional but global domination … The only way they can implement a structure that can serve them is by defeating us,” he said. “They are ambitious enough to put in a plan to do it.”

My argument has been - it will be easier for China to successfully invade Taiwan before the changing of the guard to a tougher Trump administration.
