Earthquakes as Signs

It's hard to watch the news for a few days and NOT see a major earthquake or volcanic eruption... The last quake in Mexico has killed hundreds and left millions without power.  (Not to mention the worst hurricane season in memory...)  Are they really increasing in frequency?  Gordon King's recent post https://endtimebibleprophecy.wordpress.com/2017/09/20/earthquakes-earthquakes-and-even-more-earthquakes/ suggests the answer is yes, and that they could be signs, as we are warned of in Matthew 24:8 "There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

Earthquakes are just one of many signs.  I still think ASTRONOMICAL signs are the most important, and the Bible seems to emphasize this with the heavenly description of Virgo in Revelation 12 as the GREAT SIGN which many people think is about to play out in the sky on 9/23/17.  I think even more impressive astronomical signs come in 2019.

And since most Christians believe that we cannot know the hour or the day (though I disagree and think this is due to a minor mistranslation of a Greek verb into the wrong tense in English in Matthew 24:36) we certainly know the season must be upon us soon, if the generation that witnessed the rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948 is supposed to witness the fulfillment of end times prophecy.

Matthew 24:34 says "this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."  This was already 69 years ago.  We can argue over the length of a generation, or if the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 was just as important... but for this to have any meaning, the early 21st century MUST be the crucial "season" of prophetic fulfillment.
