Harvard Professor Loeb Won't Back Down on Oumuamua Alien Scout Theory
In late 2017 the first known interstellar object to enter our solar system was discovered using a telescope in Hawaii and was named Oumuamua - the Hawaiian word for scout. We know from its angle of entry into our solar system that it came not from a long orbit around our own sun like comets from the Oort Cloud. This one has a more distant origin.
Oumuamua also has an odd shape - long and very thin. Based on its strange movements and acceleration, Dr. Avi Loeb says it cannot be a thick rock or ball of ice. But it could be a kilometer long and a millimeter thick, like an artificial film used in a solar sail. Dr. Loeb, the Chicago Tribune reiterates, suggests that it may come from an alien civilization. He poses the "theory that an extraterrestrial spacecraft, or at least a piece of one, may at this moment be flying past the orbit of Jupiter" as it exits our solar system.
Loeb is no crackpot. He has taught at Princeton and in tenured at Harvard, where he chairs the astronomy department. He has met with Freeman Dyson and Stephen Hawking, and has been consulted by Stephen Spielberg. Russian billionaire Uri Millner gave him $100M budget to build the first interstellar spacecraft. We should take the possibility seriously when Loeb says this could be alien technology.
We have been prepped for Disclosure for decades. Hollywood has helped. The government and academia are getting in on the action recently. I wouldn't be surprised if full acknowledgement comes during Trump's presidency.
