They Don't Like America

"Wartime Poll: Results of an Opinion Poll Among Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip

From October 31 to November 7, Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD) surveyed 668 Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, during the fourth week of the ongoing Gaza War. The team conducted the survey through tablet-assisted, face-to-face interviews across the West Bank and in shelters and households in the three “southern” Gaza governorates (Deir Al Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah) where people were presently residing. The poll’s sample includes all socioeconomic groups, ensuring equal representation of adult men and women, and is proportionately distributed across the West Bank and Gaza."

I can understand that if many Arabs who identified as Palestinians hated having the Jews who identified as Palestinians re-create their own nation (in 1948) on the land their ancestors called Israel, long before the Romans gave it the name of Palestine. And in late 2023, when Hamas started a war with Israel that is not going well for the descendants of those Arab Palestinians, (who arguably should have started calling themselves Jordanians in the West Bank, and Egyptians in Gaza, as Palestine was never a nation and hasn't even been a province or territory within anyone's nation since 1948) I would expect the majority of those identifying as Palestinian to ignore Hamas' attack. I would expect them to ignore the fact that Hamas' massacre of Israelis started the current episode of bloodshed, and just hate on Israel. I would even expect them to be angry with the rest of the world for not intervening on their behalf, so any poll would show some Palestinians giving the United States a thumbs down or a one-star rating for either supporting Israel or not intervening to stop Israel's response to the October 7 attacks.
