According to Maverickstar (whom you may have heard of if you are interested in tracking the movements of the North Magnetic Pole) Russian measurements are accurate and significantly different than the estimates from our government's NOAA, which allegedly hasn't taken a real measurement since 2007 but plots their predicted position of the MNP out to 2020.
Not only do the NOAA numbers show an unexplained DECREASE (slowing down) in the movement of the pole (probably just lies so that we are not alarmed at the true rapid and accelerating movement)
But the Russian data shows that magnetic north has veered off the more easterly straight line it has been on for many years and has taken a southward turn.
MORE importantly, from 2007 to 2014 magnetic north moved an average of 60 miles per year, significantly faster than the average of 40 miles per year it was traveling in the years up to 2007.
My guesstimation - the Magnetic North Pole was probably moving at about 35 miles/year in 2001, about 40 mpy by 2003, about 45 mpy by 2005, about 50 mpy by 2007, about 55 mpy by 2009, about 60 mpy by 2011, about 65 mpy by 2013 and probably about 70 miles per year now in 2015.
This is just MAGNETIC North, for now, but I suspect that the rate of acceleration will eventually increase and that the geographic pole, the position on the surface crust of the center of rotation of the planetary axis - I assume this will eventually follow the magnetic pole and realign together again.
