Socialism's Finest Hour

Personally I think AOC symbolizes the Socialist attempt to destroy everything good America has ever been.  I think from our founding at the Plymouth Colony (where most of the Pilgrims starved to death under communist sharing, until the governor realized the people were generally unwilling to work because they gained no direct benefit for hard work and felt their neighbors were being lazy.  The third year had new rules for the colony, you kept and ate the fruits of your own labor, and that year there was a surplus and they created Thanksgiving...) Americans used to understand the benefits of hard work and have enjoyed the right to reap the rewards of their efforts.

But crazy Socialists think money appears by magic, that being what they feel is morally right is more important that economic facts, and that increasing taxes on workers to provide for the lazy makes perfect sense.

A recent article at Zerohedge.com says:

"Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has inserted her foot squarely in her mouth as her "Green New Deal" PR nightmare continues.

After removing an embarrassing FAQ from her website which failed to match the environmental legislation package she introduced on Thursday, one of her advisers went on Fox News' Tucker Carlson Tonight and lied about it.

The now-deleted version of the FAQ originally uploaded by AOC's office contained an absurd provision for "economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work," a phrase which AOC adviser Robert Hockett - a Cornell law professor, claimed came from a "doctored document."

Chicago Mayor Proposes Paying 1,000 Residents $1,000 A Month "With No Strings Attached"

"Chicago is resorting to outright ponzi schemes to fund itself, proposing the issuance of $10 billion in debt to "fund" the $28 billion shortfall in the pension fund that goes toward the police, firefighters and other municipal employees.

So within this fortress of fiscal rectitude, what is Chicago's next plan? Why to literally hand out money.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, select Chicago families could start collecting a $1,000 check every month with no strings attached, according to a new proposal from a task force created by Mayor Emanuel."

The analyst of a similar program that failed in Finland concluded: "Give people free money for doing nothing, with no conditions, and they will be happier to sit around all day in non-productive utopia."  ""The recipients of a basic income were no better or worse than the control group at finding employment in the open labour market", Ohto Kanninen, research coordinator at the Labour Institute for Economic Research, said in a statement."

Big surprise.

If America and the rest of Western Civilization is stupid enough to ignore economic realities and vote with emotional fantasy then the West will collapse, wars will allow stronger nations to dominate the post-pax-Brittania-Americana and dictatorships will take over.  Will Americans rally against socialism's engineered failure, or continue to be boiled slowly towards destruction like an ignorant frog in a pot?
