Why God Requires Worship

In asking us to worship Him, I believe He expects us to question why we should, or why He needs us to worship Him. He does not need us or our worship. As Voltaire said, if God did not exist we would need to invent Him. We need God. We not only need God to exist, we need to (as fully as possible) understand and appreciate Him. If we even get close to fully appreciating Him, it will lead to thankfulness, prayer, and worship. This understanding - even a limited one - of God and the universe and our role in it - is good for us.
