I thought people might not even notice a post like this on Christmas Eve and instead I see almost 30 likes in the first hour - I hope readers start leaving comments to let me know what they like and want to see more of. Was it more that the old fort is in frigid Siberia, or that the best explanation might be a pole shift, or something else?
There are ancient references to "the sun behind the sun" but I think it refers to the galactic center and not a binary companion. Many people believe Sirius is our binary companion, but at approximately 8 light years' distance there is no way gravity could play a role in linking Sirius to our sun. And other stars like Alpha Centauri are almost half that distance away. There is a theory that most stars are in the middle of galactic Birkeland current filaments, and that most such current streams twist and braid around other similar current filaments... and that Sirius seems to have unusual motion because it is in a filament of current braided around the one our solar system is in. As the filaments twist around each other, Sirius seems to move against other background stars as if orbiting our sun, which it most certainly is not doing. Then there is the idea of Nibiru or Nemesis, a stellar companion which allegedly has a long 3600 year orbit that brings it to the inner solar system every 3600 years causing chaos on Earth. This is nonsense; we would have been destroyed long ago and there is no clear record of such a cosmic visitor in the records of China, Mexico, and the Middle East. Long story short, we don't seem to have a binary star in our system.

I like your article because it speaks to the Pole Shift. I would like to see more and more discussion about this.
Ben Davidson's work to predict and explain the cataclysm cycle is also very helpful.
Is there any mention in ancient texts of a binary sun cycle?
Thanks for your important work David!

Thanks David, I appreciate your well researched and informative answer!
