In a 1976 poll 72% of Americans said their trust in the media was “a great deal” of trust, with 24% trusting media “a fair amount” and only 6% with trust levels of “none at all.” The same poll in 2023 found only 32% have “a great deal” of trust in the media, with 29% at “a fair amount” and 39% with “none at all.” That’s a huge shift in public opinion – that we’re not supposed to have.
